Hydrocolloid dressing is a commonly used wound dressing, which can effectively absorb wound exudate, maintain the moistness of the wound, and promote the growth of granulation and epidermis.

Hydrocolloid dressing is a commonly used wound dressing, which can effectively absorb wound exudate, maintain the moistness of the wound, and promote the growth of granulation and epidermis.

1. Hydrocolloid dressings are commonly used clinical wound dressings. The main component is sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) synthetic elastomer, which can absorb wound exudate, maintain the wetness and sealability of the wound surface, thereby providing a good healing environment for the wound. It can be used for the prevention and treatment of phlebitis, as well as superficial ulcer wounds.

2. Among a variety of dressings, hydrocolloids have average absorption capacity for exudate, so they can only be used for wounds with low or moderate exudate, and the wound must have been debrided, and the wound surface should be clean and free of slough and dirt. In addition, hydrocolloids can only be used for superficial wounds, and deep wounds cannot reach the inside, so the use effect is relatively poor.

3. The hydrocolloid dressing is simple and convenient to use, and does not need to be replaced frequently. Generally, it is changed once every 3-5 days. At this time, the dressing absorbs too much exudate and its viscosity decreases, so it will not cause pain and injury when removed. However, if the use time is too short, and the forced removal of the dressing will damage the skin around the wound, especially the new granulation tissue and delicate epidermis, this should be paid special attention to.

4. After the hydrocolloid dressing absorbs the exudate, it turns into a gel, partially swells and looks white. Therefore, pay attention to the extent of the dressing's absorption of the exudate during use. The whitening area should be replaced in time when it is close to the edge of the dressing (such as 1 cm).

5. In the care of chronic ulcer wounds and phlebitis, the hydrocolloid dressing should not be forcibly removed when removing the hydrocolloid dressing. You should press one side of the dressing with one hand, and pull the dressing slowly to the opposite side while lifting the dressing with the other hand. Due to the dry and fragile skin of the elderly, care should be taken during dressing replacement or removal.

6. Special situations where hydrocolloid dressings cannot be used: anaerobic infection wounds, full-thickness wounds, scabs wounds, deep wounds, diabetic feet, wounds that may continue to die, and hemorrhagic wounds. In these cases, use Shengji cream instead , Fuyuan paste and gauze treatment, if you need to use hydrogel to seal, you should follow the instructions carefully.
